Ottumwa Woman Accused of Breaking into Home, Pointing Gun at Victim

An Ottumwa woman is behind bars after police say she broke into a residence Wednesday morning and brandished a gun.

22-year-old Hunter Dawn Kopp has been charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony, and assault while participating in a felony, a Class D felony.

According to court documents, at approximately 9:00 AM, Kopp was pounding on a door at a home on North Court Street in Ottumwa.

A man living in the residence allegedly called the police while Kopp was at the door and she later forced her way into the residence while having a gun concealed on her person. The victim later stated that Kopp pointed the firearm at him.

Court records say Kopp was exiting the residence when officers arrived at the scene. Police say Kopp admitted to breaking into the residence and displaying the gun to the victim.

Kopp was arrested and is currently in the Wapello County Jail where she is being held without bond.
