The Oskaloosa Community School District has hired its new Superintendent.
According to a press release from Oskaloosa Schools, Mike Fisher–the current Superintendent at Charles City Schools–will begin his tenure as the Oskaloosa Superintendent on July 1st.
Fisher has been the Charles City Superintendent since 2018. The press release states Fisher has 10 years of school administration experience.
Fisher has taken part in numerous projects, according to the Oskaloosa School District, including collaborating with the local non-profit child care to renovate and repurpose a retired school, construction of a regional career academy with the area community college, and working with a developer to renovate a decommissioned school into 40 units of market-rate housing.
Fisher, a graduate of Oskaloosa High School, earned a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Simpson College. He is also in the process of completing his Doctorate of Education from the University of Northern Iowa this May with a focus on teacher hiring practices.
Fisher is slated to begin his tenure as Oskaloosa Superintendent in July. He will be replacing current Superintendent Paula Wright, who announced her retirement last October.
