An Ottumwa man faces multiple felonies after authorities say he exchanged text messages with a child and later engaged in illicit activities with her.
20-year-old Michael Clark has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, and enticing a minor, a Class C felony.
According to court documents, Clark and the victim began communicating during the first week of March 2021, when Clark was 19 and the victim was 12. Clark continued to message the minor regarding pictures of her body and when the two could meet up.
Ottumwa police say Clark and the victim met at Evans Middle School during the afternoon of March 7th, 2021. The two engaged in a prohibited sexual act.
A warrant for Clark’s arrest was issued on March 10th, 2022 and he was taken into custody on March 22nd.
Clark is currently in the Wapello County Jail where he is being held without bond.
