The recently opened Market on Main in downtown Ottumwa will be included in an epic Iowa Road Trip that will kick off next week.
Officials from the Central Iowa Tourism Region, the Eastern Iowa Tourism Association and the Iowa Tourism Office have announced a specially wrapped motorcoach will travel nearly 21-hundred miles promoting more than 60 tourism destinations in 33 counties and 46 communities.
Officials says the tour is meant to showcase and recognized Iowa’s travel destinations. The Epic Iowa Road trip will take place May 2nd through the 10th.
Ottumwa’s Market on Main is the second such facility in the state. The other market on main is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Mark Eckman Executive Director of the Ottumwa Area Convention and Visitors Bureau told Ottumwa radio news the motorcoach bus will arrive in Ottumwa next Friday morning and will be here from 9:00 until 9:45. Ottumwa Mayor Tom Lazio, members of the Board of Supervisors and chamber officials will be in attendance. Eckman says 60 to 80 people are expected to attend the event along with officials from the Iowa Tourism Office including it’s manager Shawna Lode. During the 45 minute stop a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held. From Ottumwa the bus will head to Eldon for a stop at the American Gothic House and visitors center.
