Ottumwa teen arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

(Update) – There’s new developments in regards to a 17 year old Ottumwa teen arrested by Ottumwa Police Wednesday on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd degree. Arrested was Kraigen A. Grooms Ottumwa Police became involved in an investigation involving the sexual assault of a small child.
NBC 5 News in Dallas, Texas says Grooms was wanted in connection to the sexual abuse of an infant in North Texas.
Grooms was arrested after a 30 hour manhunt that began on Tuesday in Texas when federal officials detailed during a press conference the alleged sexual abuse of a toddler victim by the suspect.
If convicted Grooms could be sentenced to 25 years in prison. Due to the serious nature of the charges, Grooms is being charged as an adult. He remains in custody on a 100-thousand dollar cash only bond.
(Ottumwa) – On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, the Ottumwa Police Department became involved in an investigation involving the sexual assault of small child. As a result of the investigation, Ottumwa Police arrested Kraigen A. Grooms, age 17, of 515 S. Lillian, Ottumwa, with Sex Abuse in the 2nd Degree. Sex Abuse in the 2nd Degree is a Class “B” Felony, punishable with up to 25 years imprisonment upon conviction. Due to the serious nature of the charges, Grooms is charged as an adult. Grooms is currently in custody with a $100,000 cash only bond.
The United States Department of Homeland Security also participated in the investigation.
