Oskaloosa Man Charged with Attempted Murder

By Ellis Codjoe, January 09, 2018

An Oskaloosa man faces a charge of Attempted Murder after police say he fired into another vehicle in late December.

OskyNews.org reports that 26 year old Deon Freeman was arrested over the weekend. Freeman is accused of firing several rounds into another vehicle after an incident on December 19th.

Court documents state that Freeman shot at a vehicle he believed was occupied by 18 year old Cellous Glover.

“The defendant (Freeman) advised that he observed a male … in another vehicle point a gun at him. The defendant then advised that this vehicle ran into the back of his vehicle.”

As the impala drove away, Freeman fired six rounds into the car in the hopes of hitting Glover.

Freeman is charged with Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony. His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.

Glover was arrested later the same evening in Pleasant Hill and faces unrelated charges there. Police say that after the investigation, they determined that Glover was never in the white impala.

An adult female and fifteen-year-old male were in the car and were not injured by the gunfire.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
