Multiple Departments Respond to Blaze in Davis County

Multiple Fire Departments across Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri responded to a report of a building on fire in rural Davis County.
The fire was reported at Integrity Wood Products in the 16,000 Block of 240th Street at around 1pm Thursday. The company makes wooden pallets.
Members of the Davis County, Polaski, Floris, Drakesville, Moulton and Lancaster, Missouri fire departments responded to the scene. First responders reported that the rear of the building was engulfed when they arrived, with flames shooting from the roof, doorways and windows.
Firefighters say that multiple propane and diesel tanks at the rear of the building, near the fire, could have caused a serious problem. They were able to bring the blaze under control before pressure built up too high in the propane tanks.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within about twenty minutes of arriving on scene. They estimated damages at around $30,000, mostly to equipment inside the building.
Firefighters noted that the fire could have been a lot worse. “This was a metal building, that helped out a lot. If this was wooden it would have been a lot worse,” one firefighter commented.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
