Fremont Post Office Temporarily Closed

By Ellis Codjoe, August 03, 2017

An animal has forced officials with the United States Postal Service to temporarily close the post office on Main Street in Fremont.

An animal apparently broke into the post office last week, causing damage. A spokesperson couldn’t comment on the extent of the damage, but said that the building’s wiring was also being investigated. She wouldn’t say if the animal was related to the wiring issue.

All employees have been temporarily re-located to the Eddyville Post Office.

The spokesperson wasn’t sure how long the building would be closed, but said she expects the closure to be temporary.

PO Box Delivery will continue behind city hall. Residents and postal customers should continue using their regular mailing address unless instructed otherwise.
