Drug Task Force has busy year

2013 was another busy year for members of the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force.
The task force was created in 1990 with a mission to identify, investigate, apprehend and prosecute drug related criminal offenders in a seven county region of southeast Iowa.
A report just released by the Ottumwa Police Department shows the task force participated in the execution of 44 search warrants and seized 2 methamphetamine labs.
During the year the unit initiated 37 distribution cases, conducted 7 manufacture investigations and 5 possession cases. In addition, the Drug Task Force made 3 case referrals involving 32 individuals to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for federal prosecution.
Investigators filed a total of 171 charges against 103 individuals.
