Play By Play Announcer- Davis County: Part-time

The Ottumwa Radio Sports Network is looking for the next voice of the Davis County baseball team. We need someone who is on-time, professional, energetic, and knows baseball. Previous play-by-play experience is not required, but is a big plus. Davis County plays approximately 30 games from late May until the end of July. The announcer earns $40 per game, which is about $20 per hour, plus 40 cents per mile for travel expenses. You may also have the possibility of broadcasting Mustang football in the fall, and basketball in the winter.

Board Op: Part-time

News Director/Sports Announcer: Full-time

Ottumwa Radio is expanding its news department and is accepting resumes for a full time news director.  We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative self-starter.
Duties included, but not limited to:

  • Direct the news staff to develop story ideas, track issues for public file, assigns news staff daily stories
  • Primary web editor.
  • Liaison to public officials should the need arise.
  • Part of the news team and contributes content on a regular basis.  Will have final call on all news covered and carried on any of our stations.

A four-year degree in journalism or equivalent experience required. Successful candidate will possess broad knowledge of local and regional issues. Must have ability to work within a live program environment. Must have experience in broadcast production, web content, news writing, news editing and Adobe Audition or similar editing program. Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred skills include on-line research, multimedia production, word and operation of light office equipment. Must have excellent memory for details, be able to meet daily deadlines under potentially stressful conditions and deal effectively with multiple competing tasks.
