Betty Johnson

Betty Lou Johnston, 76, of Ottumwa, died at 9:54 a.m. October 10, 2018 at home.

She was born January 7, 1942 in Kirksville, MO to Lewis and Tina M. Brumbaugh Morrow. She married Dale Gary Scott and they later divorced. Betty married Keith Johnston on June 23, 1982 and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.

A 1960 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Betty had worked for the Wapello County Ambulance Service, Lowenberg Bakery and Champion Bowl.

She was a member of the Ottumwa Women’s Bowling Association.  Betty enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, playing guitar, dancing and traveling.

Surviving are her children, Wanda (Michael) Lathrop, Tish (Mike) Griffiths and Gary (Chasity) Scott all of Ottumwa; step-daughter, Mikki (Dan) McGhyhy of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Jonathan, Emily, Ashley, Keith, Constance, Chelsea, Rickie, Kaitlyn, Kayla and Cody; two step-grandsons, Brett and Troy; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; a brother, Ralph “Dick” (Nell) Morrow of New Windsor, IL.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilford Morrow and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Doug McAntire officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
