Albia Man Guilty of Molesting Infant Daughter
By Nick Davis, February 15, 2017
An Albia man has been found guilty of sexually abusing his daughter following a short trial in Monroe County.
The trial began on Tuesday, February 7th. On Friday the jury found 31 year-old Justin Stickrod of Albia guilty of First-Degree sexual abuse and child endangerment.
Court Documents released at the time of his arrest say that Stickrod was left alone with his two month old daughter on February 4th, 2016.
The child’s mother arrived home and found Stickrod passed out on a bed and signs that the child had been abused. He was arrested after an investigation by the Albia Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
At the time of Stickrod’s arrest, Monroe County Sheriff Daniel Johnson told KCCI-TV that “Out of the cases, this has probably been my hardest one to work through having children of my own.”
Stickrod has a short arrest record, but nothing related to sexual abuse.
First degree sexual abuse is a Class A felony, meaning Stickrod could face up to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 7th.
