Wal-Mart Robbery Suspects Arrested

Ottumwa Police responded to a Robbery report at Wal-Mart May 18, at 8:40 p.m.

One suspect waited in the the car just outside the store while the other hid items and tried to exit the store. The two were stopped by security, and one of the suspects threatened them with a firearm. They stole approximately $690 worth of Wal-Mart merchandise.

After the robbery, the two were arrested at 3:30 a.m. on May 21 on their outstanding warrants from Nebraska by the Nebraska State Patrol. The first suspect, Jonathan Dryu Duzenberry, age 23, was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class “B” Felony), Assault While Participating in a Felony (Class “D” Felony) and Theft 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Michael Andrew Lawhon, age 21, was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class “B” Felony) and Theft 3rd Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor).

Both men are in custody at the Otoe County Jail in Nebraska awaiting extradition back to Iowa.
